Robert
L. Holloway, Jr., is a shareholder in MacLean Holloway
Doherty Ardiff & Morse, P.C. His
practice focuses on the resolution of complex litigation matters
for business and individual clients, in a wide range of substantive
areas. He has successfully litigated shareholder derivative actions,
securities fraud, lender liability, partnership and close-corporation
dissolution matters, trade regulation and consumer protection matters,
land use, construction, commercial and banking transaction matters,
products liability, employment and discrimination claims, as well
as creditor and debtor disputes in the Bankruptcy Court and elsewhere.
His representation has included both plaintiffs and defendants in
these and many other civil litigation matters. Mr. Holloway's trial
and appellate experience has included federal and state courts in
Massachusetts, as well as courts in other jurisdictions.
Mr. Holloway
is a graduate of Amherst College (B.A., 1968) and Boston University
School of Law (J.D., 1973) and has practiced continuously with MacLean
Holloway Doherty Ardiff & Morse, P.C. since
1973. He serves as Chair of the firm and heads the firm's litigation
practice. Mr. Holloway was admitted to practice in Massachusetts
in 1973, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts
in 1974, the First Circuit Court of Appeals in 1979, the U.S. Supreme
Court in 1979, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in 1992. For
more than 20 years Mr. Holloway also has served as a "neutral"
-by court appointment and by selection of parties -as a mediator,
arbitrator and master, in a wide variety of cases.
Active in professional, civic and charitable activities, Mr. Holloway
currently serves as a member of the Board of Editors of Massachusetts
Lawyers Weekly (1981-1989; 1993 - present); Director and current
President of the Essex County Bar Association; and as a member of
the Massachusetts Bar Association Ethics Committee, Civil Litigation
Council and Joint Bar Committee on Judicial Nominations. He is a
member of the Topsfield Board of Health and previously served three
terms as an elected member of the Masconomet Regional School Committee
(1990- 1999). For many years he served as a director of the Topsfield
Athletic Association and also served as that organization's president.
Prior thereto, he served as an appointed member of the Danvers Recreation
Committee, and as chairman of that Committee. He was a founding
member of Hospice of the North Shore and has served for many years
as a corporator of Beverly Hospital. Mr. Holloway received in 1993
the Massachusetts Bar Association's Community Service Award.
Mr. Holloway also regularly judges moot court arguments at Boston
University School of Law and Harvard Law School and acts as a trial
advisor in the Harvard Trial Workshop program. He is a regular panelist
on continuing legal education programs, including the recurring
MCLE program, "How To Try A Civil Case In Superior Court."
